Academics

We know that middle school can be tough. This is the first time students are navigating multiple teachers and are faced with more homework than expected. Sierra's counseling team is here to help! If a student needs assistance with academics, reach out to Sierra's counseling team, and they will connect you with the right resource.

Study Correct Material

Make sure you're studying the correct material. Is your test multiple choice? Short answer? Essay? Connect with your teacher and ask for study guides or rubrics.

Memorize

Reading the information out loud, using flashcards, and quizzing yourself are great ways to memorize the content.

Highlight Content

Highlight important information that needs to stand out. Key words, dates,  and facts are great items to highlight.

Review

Take some time to REST, and then review. Rest time can be a few hours, or a day if you have the time. Once you are ready, review all the information again.  Having a study buddy can help as well.

Calculating Your GPA (Grade Point Average)

What Is A GPA?

A GPA, known as Grade Point Average, is the average of all the grade points you've earned in school over a set period of time. It reflects your overall academic performance and is an important measure of how well you are doing in your classes.

Your GPA is often used to determine eligibility for sports, extracurricular activities, and eventually, college admission.
